I wouldn't bother boiling the cabbage as it will loose some of its goodness.  Potatoes as grinling said do need to be cooked though.   ;)

Its not illegal to give your Chickens prepared veg, its just illegal to give your chickens kitchen waste.

Its being enforced because of the foot and mouth outbreak in 2000-and-something. The concern is mostly with animal by-products in the catering/kitchen waste being fed to farm animals.

I would suggest if you wanted to feed your chickens veg or potato peelings to prepare this away from your kitchen and use utensils only for preparing the chickens veg.
This way it is not kitchen waste or come into contact with any animal by-products. Oddly though you would now be eating spuds from the Chickens kitchen waste instead.

I grow lettuces just for our girls and use to take it into the house to chop it up for them using the same knife I prepared our meals with. Now I cut it all up in the green house, so it does not become contaminated with any animal by products and also seen as me feeding them kitchen waste.
If at first you don't succeed, try a different method.

just thaw it out and then give it to them like that - no need to cook it.

I sometimes peel my potatoes on the patch and drop off the peelings to the girls en route to the kitchen.  I never realised they should be boiled first, will it make a big difference?  The chickens still eat them but maybe they don't get all the nutrition from them raw?

They've just mugged me for a dish of spaghetti I happened to be carrying around the garden, honest Guv!  ;)

lmao, been there.  Its so funny watching them run around with spaghetti hanging down each side of their beaks.
