Title: Would people like to have some progressive candling pictures?
Post by: Casey76 on March 21, 2011, 16:49
On Friday this week I'll be setting about 5 of my Sabelpoot eggs in the incubator.

Would anyone like me to take pics on a daily basis of what they look like when candled?

(my current lot, you can see the first spider of veins at three days!)

If I have enough interested I'll make thread, and add a photo every day :)

We can play spot the embryo cockerel if you number the eggs. :)

sounds like a good idea Casey but please don't let the humidity in the incubator suffer  :)

Don't worry Joy, they'll be going in my RCOM, and the humidity recovers within 1-2 minutes.

It won't do the eggs any harm to come out of the incubator for a minute or two each day :)

A broody hen would get off the eggs a couple of times a day, probably for longer than it takes for a quick photo.
It will be interesting to see how many photo`s you get before the embryo blots out the light. :)

yes I know as I always use a broody hen  :), however with incubators besides the temp you have to be careful with the humidity.

I bet this time next year you will be wanting to hatch especially if your girls go broody

think that's a unanimous yes then Casey - perhaps put it as a locked sticky in the information section - making it easy for everybody to find  :).

Ah but I've been reading everyone's posts about cockerals so I have been innoculated against hatching!  :tongue2:

I'd love to see how the eggs go through from laying to hatching.

I find it amazing that the eggs can be laid over a period but don't start to incubate until mum is ready, so they all hatch at the same time: isn't nature wonderful!!
