You have missed my point - sorry, I probably didn't make myself clear. Acer is the "family" - Maple is just part of that family. So I just pointed out that the tree or shrub is from the Acer family but may not be a maple. It could be something with similar shaped leaves but it is difficult to tell from the picture. I wasn't suggesting that it was a sycamore, I just gave that as an example of another tree in the Acer family.

I may be a newbie to veggie growing, but I am not so new to gardening with shrubs and flowers etc and OH works in garden design so I feel pretty confident on this one for once!

there are also different maples - I have several field maples (acer campestra) and one Norwegian maple (acer platanoides) in my garden plus a Japanese maple (acer palmatum) in a pot.
Staffies are softer than you think.

Chris I don`t need to be told about Acers, I too, as a qualified horticulturalist and former garden centre plant area manager, know what I`m talking about. I`ve also designed a few gardens in my time. I also carried out the work. :D

If I had to put money on it, I`d say it was Forsythia.

I am sorry to have upset you but a lot of people often just quote Acer and Maple as being the same thing and that is what came across. I was just trying to clear up a misunderstanding.

Also, I never suggested that you didn't know what you were talking about and was not trying to tell you personally about acers and maples - this is an open forum and other people may have been interested. In future, I will keep my mouth shut and just concentrate on the veggies which I admit to knowing nothing about.

That's how I do it too.  You can resize on photobucket automatically so all your photos will be accepted on here.

Not upset - just stating facts! I have had such a lot of help and support over the veggie stuff from here, that I felt pleased that I had been able to give something back. Will stick to the singing in future I think!!  :tongue2:

Arguments are usually caused by religion and  politics, seems we'll have to ban topics on gardening now

There's a viburnum and a peiris in there too  :D
