I have decided to, and begun to, build my own greenhouse.
It will be a lean to and face SSW
I thought French windows rather than an aluminium sliding door.
and all perspex/acrylic for the glazing.
and seeing as it is a lean to,( Against my workshop)  a twin power socket, and a car CD/radio built into the wall.
So Joni Mitchell, Radio 4, Question Time and Just a Minute, interspersed with Pink Floyd
and bouts of the deep luxury velvet silence that you can never get in a lot of places...But you can here.
Apart from the chickens that is.
I could even have "proper" lighting as well.So I shall.
I doubt if I will use an electric propagator
I will fashion a gutter across the front and from it a downpipe leading inside that empties into a water butt that has an overflow that drains in the gravel bed outside.
There are good arguments for a strong chain across the highest point at the back, so  baskets can be hung to plant and to bring on,
A grapevine right in the middle of the back wall,, and make the floor to suit it. slabs or gravel or duckboards or whatever it turns out to be.
and coldframes built in across the front, along either side of the doors, that can be planted and harvested from inside as easily as out.
I will let you know how it goes *

Google Sketchup (http://sketchup.google.com/) - brilliant for designing/planning your next project, or for sharing your designs/ideas.

I came across this site - American I think - it has free plans for greenhouse/polytunnel, cold frame and poultry pens and tells you exactly what you need to make them .

http://www.pvcplans.com/

Talking of cold frames, I came across a picture/article - can't remember where - an old divan base had been stripped down to the frame and covered with pvc - instant cold fame. I might try it with an old but modern (cheap) sofa I have in the shed.

I am curious about the water tanks/fish stage and hope you will continue to keep us all up to date

Well done to the tinyallotment crew!!!
