Tomatoes on my potatoes????

I'm very confused! Have just been down to give my Desiree's a good soaking. They look very healthy and have been flowering for a couple of weeks, but where the flowers are dying, tomatoes are setting. Some are quite big. I know the two plants are related but i've never heard of this before. Can anyone advise??

They are potato seed pods.............they don't do any harm, but if you want too you can just snip them off. Some people think they take some of the plant's energy away from forming the potatoes you want

They're the potato seedheads. I believe they are poisonous. PLEASE do not try eating them. They only tend to be of use to the potato breeders.

Thanks for such quick responses. I was beginning to think I'd raised a freak plant

I'll advise the kids not to eat the "tomatoes"

Spuds, toms and deadly nightshade are all related.
