My better half, The Mighty V ( *bows* ), has a pretty nice garden, she grows all sorts of stuff that I don't know the name of .... and several that she doesn't know the name of either :tongue2:
... anyway, over the last couple of days we've taken a few pics of it and I thought you'd like to see them
.... not entirely true, it's a bit like posting pictures of your harvest, you just wanna show the world ;)
Without further ado, allow me to introduce The Mighty V

This'd be one of the ones that she doesn't know the name of, we just call it butterfly bush because it often has more butterflies than petals :D

It looks amazing!
The 'butterfly bush' is a buddleia. The common name is butterfly bush, don't know if you know that are or just being descriptive :D

Tad of both, The Mighty V called it a butterfly bush and then I remembered seeing it last year covered in butterflies ... was a brilliant sight :D
She's still gonna kick herself for forgetting it was a buddleia ;)

Stunning piccies, remind me which camera you use?

The 'yellow thing' is a gaillardia.
Which other ones do you need naming?
Cheers,
Gillie

It's a Panasonic DMC-TZ5 ... seems to be reasonably blonde proof and does take some great pics

Excellent thanks :D I think that's the last of the ones that we didn't know the name of.

Picture 6 is a hebe
Picture 7 is monbresha(sp?) (thats all I know it as??)
-
Counting SWMBO as #1, pic 5 is a honeysuckle, #7 is a crocosmia (var. Lucifer), #10 and probably #11 are flowering alliums, #13 is a fuschia, #18 might be black eyed susan but I can't see the leaves, and last is dill.
-
SWMBO got honeysuckle, thought she had crocosmia ( although I miss-spelt it on my galleries :tongue2: ), but was thrown into doubt by a duck and said "ohhh now I'm not so sure" ... 11 ... 11 ... urm ... *scrolls up* ... ohhh yeah, 10 is a HUGE allium ... makes some of our dahlias look tiny! ... she (wmbo *bows*) called 11 "drumsticks"? look to much like chive flowers to not be an allium.... spot on with "black eyed susan" .... taken me 6 months to remember the word rudbecia(sp) and you know 2 that look similar but with different leaves! :tongue2: ... I thought the last one was fennel though ... sure I planted fennel there ... hmmm ...

*edit to add*
Matilda, hebe is spot on, they have some amazing flowers, so tiny but so complex, gotta love nature poking you in the eye with "been there , done that, bring on your next micro/tele scope" :D
-
I believe fennel is the same family so the tops would look very similar. And there is a drumstick variety of allium, which you obviously have. Rudbeckia is the spelling you want ;)
-
"10 is a HUGE allium "
Allium christophii

I have to agree. The pictures of the plants are a delight to behold.

Damn, I'm gonna have to bookmark this thread or I'll never remember all the names :tongue2:

I just push a button and hope I'm pointing it in the right direction ;)
