have then got flowers and have they been pollinated? if not remove male flower and peel petals off and push stamen inside the female flowers ( if ya cant tell the difference do all of em with a couple or 3 long stemmed ones and same with short fat ones , search female and male pumpkin flowers to see a picture if that helps

that have loads of flowers that are still tiny and impossible to see if they are male or female... been like that for weeks now and still they grown longer. should I cut the growing tip to stop them growing more or just leave them?

I don't think you should ...

... cut the tips until they've set fruit from memory.

SG - ours have only just begun to set fruit here in Spain - they've been in for ages. So I would not worry. Watermelons planted out at the same time have already had several huge fruits which we've eaten so the squashes seem to be very slow compared to them - must just be a squash thing (its the first time we've grown them).

I've just noticed two tiny fruits on my squash plant, yet none of the flowers have opened yet? Is this possible? What colour do baby butternuts start off as, mine are green?

My squash are the same, the plant is doing great but the only sign of flowers is unopened buds. I'm waiting and watching, if they open I I may try hand polinating but I'm worried it may be a bit late in the year to get any squash. For some reason they were not thriving for about a month after I put them in and have had some catching up to do!

Is it way too late for them to actually become fully grown?

Cheers
