My friend has that hen house and I have seen it recommended on other sites.  She seems fine with it but does have it opening out onto a larger run.

My hens love to roll about and flap their wings in the dry soil in their run.  I added some ash from the bonfire too and mixed that in.  It's now all mud in there so hoping to dry weather soon cos their hen house will be filthy after today     They seem to love to be out in the cold and rain getting filthy
