Title: help with sexing
Post by: Vonnie on September 01, 2009, 08:45
Last night/this morning one of our Cream legbar chicks hatched......soooo cute.  We have more on the way as well as some Dark brown Marans.  Does anyone know how we can sex them as some information sites seem to give conflicting information.  Vonnie

Hello Vonnie, these are my cream legbar chicks and with TMG's help this is what we deduced!
yellow blobs on heads means boys but girls can have blobs too but have a solid dark stripe from their head down their backs!

Debbie

Thanks for that, my sone Aaron loved the mouse...LOL.  The have hatched under mum and we have more on the way so when we go up at unch time to see how things have progressed I will take some photos.  I would appreciate your views if I can manage to get the photos to upload on to the site.  Question for you!  I am concerned about the chick as this is my first atempt.  We have 2 broodies both sitting on eggs are the chicks safe to be left with mum and the other hen? Worried that the other broodie may attack!!!
