onion's bolting...
« on: May 25, 2010, 20:51 »
went to the allotment today and one of my red onions has bolted, they were started from sets earlier this year. is this normal behaviour for sets? what do i do with it?? can u still eat the onion after its bolted?

i'm lucky because most of my neighbours have all of their onions bolting.
:)

It's the weird weather stressing them that makes them bolt. But red ones tend to do it more than the white onions. Cut off the flowers and use it as soon as it's a usable size cos they don't keep :(

Is there any way to stop them bolting? Would watering help?
