Title: Ill hamster
Post by: chloe on August 04, 2010, 12:41
My syrian hamster Lola has taken a turn for the worst and is ill :( She turned 2 years old on July 25th so she is a pretty old girl! I noticed she was ill a few weeks ago but now i think she has stopped eating.. she is still drinking alot, but she is VERY thin, you can feel her ribs and spine easily. Is there anyway i can get her to eat? i have tryed giving her, her favourite things, but it doesn't seem to be doing the trick :(

Chloe if your hamster won't eat anything at all there is clearly something very wrong

Bearing in mind that they can live for up to three years, this may not be just old age and I would suggest taking her to a vet asap please.

Definitely, drinking a lot but not eating could indicate all sorts of things, diabetes, kidney or bladder infection, etc , many perfectly treatable. Is she particularly lethargic?

Get her to the vet sharpish!  :)

I hope she's ok.
