Baby chicks due this weekend! After 20 days of love and attention by two broody speckeldy hens, the chicks should be born soon.
The old guy down our lane who gave us the fertilised eggs came over to test whether the eggs were viable or not. He asked for a bowl of tepid water and placed the eggs in it. The ones that kicked about had chicks in them. I've never seen that before or read about it anywhere. I thought it was amazing so thought I'd share!
There were five definites, two not sure about and two others with nothing but liquid in them.
So fingers crossed we'll have at least five babies soon! Don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!
