From the seed parcel on here I sowed some Broccoli Raab.
Its has grown well and producing great lower leaves and broccoli on top and some flowers appeared this weekend on some of the plants, so been picking those plants. But noticed one plant this morning had flowers open, so will pick that today.
I have read elsewhere some say you can pick down to the lower leaves and they will produce another crop.
Has anyone else tried this type of Broccoli?
Will know today how tasty it is and will be adding a second crop later in the week.

It tastes like broccoli, but has IMO a slightly bitter edge to it.
Leave a few leaves on the stem when you pick it, give it a good watering and sometimes it resprouts ;)

I liked it and it was easy to grow, but took up a lot of space and went to flower really quickly, so I don't grow it now, but it was ok.

Useful as greens for the hens, but it does set flowers rather quickly.

Was tasty and was bitter. Will pick it for the next few weeks.
Not sure I will grow it again either. Like you say takes a lot of space for such little crop.
But was fun and free to try.
Will sow some Broccoli Autumn Calabrese that a neighbour grew last year, that gets sowed mid June through to July for a Aug/Sep harvest, so will be planting them in their place, rather than a second crop or regrowing of the current crop of of Raab.
Also have some All the year round Cauli too that I will sow now for a late Autumn crop to also fill the gap.

We grew an Autumn Calabrese last year and it was delicious -- I think it was called Ironman.
Raab grows quickly alright but we didn't like it enough to give over space to it again this year, and like ghost61, we found it difficult to keep up with it before it burst into flower

I see what you mean about it bursting into flower, overnight a load did that.
Decided to pull up all the crop and we had it with our tea last night.
It is pretty bitter, so a lot of butter needed after steaming to take the tang off for those who cant bear its bitterness.
Have the All year round Cauli and normal Autumn Spear broccoli plants that are all up now going in its place today.
Was interesting to try the Raab, got the seed from the Pass-the-parcel 2016 on here.
Will not be doing again, but some of the fun of gardening is trying new things.

It is a crop that you have to sow in short rows and use up quickly, that's for sure.
I try a couple of new things every year and at least half are jettisoned for future years. There are a few though that have made it onto the 'must have' list, so I'm glad I took a chance and tried them :)
