Got a gooseberry bush which needs moving and pruning. Is now a good time? I'd heard that fruit bushes shouldn't be pruned until they go dormant in the winter.
-
prune it leaving the middle open allowing branches to lead out take em back by a third .... then move it when its winter ....
-
See pruning in the Glossary. :)
-
My book says to move now (October) & prune in winter!
-
never did follow many books me

That's correct, I agree with DD.

You were in the navy for shouting out loud, never followed any books, oh comon :D
-
lmao ... cos i shouted so loud they shook n just did what i said lolol.... my nic was . " bassadya " but they NEVER called me it to my face lol
-
Sounds good, but what is bassadya, please?
Were you top guy then, who doesn't need to go by any books? 8) 8)

what i had to learn was by action mostly .what i learned you got taught from someone else instructing . in my day the bos said shoot you shot .... cos that all that counted .im not a modern service guy who had to have x amount of o levels n all that stuff to be honest i had reasonable education level .what and where i finished up as a warrant officer i did on my own bat with 110% graft and by sheer blooming mindedness. now we have 21 yr old officers from school with 10 o levels and no combat or true service record telling guys who have been in the job for 30 yrs what to do ...... todays soldier sailor airman has to be much more book orintated than ever .and why i dont understand .. looking down a rifle at the guy shooting back takes no reading just the stomach to pull the trigger . :D
-
and im sure i dont need to interprate " basssadya" for you or anybody else lmao
-
the best way to move it would be to dig it up and plant it in my garden

I'm sorry, I really don't know what it is(being foreign you see), but of course, you don't explain it if you do not wish to.
By the books I meant something else, like there are rules to follow in that kind of situation.
-
i wasnt reffering to the books in the navy side of the question .i was reffering to the horticultural side ... in answer to the gooseberry question ,, :) your post about having to do the book thing in the service was my answer ... :) no worries :D
-
