lovely chicks there Spana, how do you manage to round them up into a coop though afterwards? My hedgerow hatchlings are all hatched by my tree dwellers so I struggle to get them rounded up and by the time they are 8 weeks they are all living high up - which makes the job of catching cockerels a pain in the neck  ::)
Staffies are softer than you think.

The little coop was there and she just took them in. :)

I saw them come out of the barn from the bedroom window, called down to OH and he dashed up  and shut the pop hole :D

I have that trouble with cockerels who roost outside, it is a pain when their time is up and you have to catch them. :(

They are just so delightful. What breed is the mummy? She's very pretty too. Congratulations on your new arrivals. I just hope that most of them are girls!

Who can resist fluffy chicks  Mums a Dorking.  :)

Looking at the chicks, 3 possibly 4 hens had been laying in the nest.  Her own chicks are the stripey ones  but being a good mother she treats them all the same

Excellent Spana.  Autumn arrivals lovely.  I'm just hoping Anastasia will appear any day now with her brood we expect she's sitting on somewhere in the garden.

The thought of having little babies again is really blowing my mind. I was in 2 minds about getting a cockerel this time round, but OH is adamant that he wants one, so we will just have to see whether nature takes its course, and that love is in the air and that I get a broody or two. I know I run the risk of cockerals, but we have a free ads website here and loads of people buy them and at a good price! Ill just have to try not to think about whether they end up as coq au vin!!

24 HOURS TO GO AND COUNTING!!!!

So cute Spana and totally irresistible

We have tree dwellers too (2 of them cockerels) and they get to the very top of the Damson tree (completely out of reach) and sit there doing the chicken version of laughing ::)

Well that turned out to be a pretty good prediction they actually arrived with mum in the garden on the 27th so must have hatched on the 25/26th as I posted this.  See "Anastasias gone missing again".

My ex-batt hen with her new jumper -- just in time for the cold weather front. She's not happy though, rather embarrased and sulky!
