Chickens in the garden at Hillfoot.

Cream legbar hen.  She's now almost 5yo but still lays most days.

and one of my old Welsommers of similar age.

I think we should start a new thread called "Post your pictures of chickens with mucky feathers, bald spots, dirty feet and faces only a mother could love!"

It's all very well seeing these photos of clean, shiny hens sitting in the sunshine, but we all know it's not always like that.  My Light Sussexes after their dust baths are quite a sight!  :tongue2:

Can you identify this chicken? This is Vivienne, my 8 week old girl pictured with 8 week old Silkie, Audrey, both bought from a chicken auction in a box labelled garden chicks. Lovely & friendly but would be nice to know what she is - thanks x

Well I'd say she's the sort of bird I'd expect to find in a box labelled "garden chickens", bought at an auction.  I doubt she'd win many prizes.  Enjoy :D

Bath time - Felicity just about disappears into her sand bath.  Between them they have made it so deep I wonder if they are planning 'The Great Escape'  :D

These photos are especiallly for Grannie Annie who will no doubt want to know how her turkeys are progressing.  They are now 7 -8 week old and settling in to their new run nicely.

The wind is ruffling their feathers

Around the 'millenium' oak tree planted as a sapling in 2000

They are feathered up nicely and have visiblily grown a lot in the 3 weeks they've been here.

They are very well behaved too and are easy to shepherd into their house at night.
