Brand new hens!
They arrived yesterday (DH fetched them)
They wouldn't come out of the coop today, but decided it would be fun to eat a newly laid egg instead

Presenting (at about 20 weeks old):
Mercy (God's abundant Mercy) (Bovans Nera)
Hope (All my Hope on God is Founded) (Light Sussex - the one DH named  ::) )
and Faith (cos You Gotta have Faith) (Calder Ranger)

I have already introduced Barney, Betty & Wilma but I just wanted to show them off once again  ::) Well, Barney and Wilma, Betty seems a bit camera shy  ;)

Barney - isn't he handsome?

Wilma - such a cutie!

I'm one proud and happy chicken keeper!

I will get a pic of Betty....  ::)
2 German Shepherds, Kira & Bruin, 4 hybrid chicks Chryssie, Violet, Sweet Pea and Astra.

Didn't think i'd get any flowers to be honest. Truely thought they would have just laughed in my face with the feable fence i put up  The circle in the centre has a fence around it thats only 15" and they just havent even tried to jump in  ??? And its full of flowers and has plenty of space for them :tongue2: Maybe they will get a bit more excited when the food stuff grows

I have had 2 chooks for about 18 months. Last wednesday bought 2 more chooks. Have had the usual world war 3 for about 1 day, ;) still a bit of argy bargy going on but nothing too serious. What I would like to know is what type are they?

Very pretty birds the black feathers on their necks they can raise like a ruff. So any advice would be appreciated.

These look like a hybrid or first cross with a Light Sussex.  The Columbian markings (black hackles and tail) are typical Light Sussex but it's not as intense solid colouring as in a pure breed Sussex which is why I think they are a cross breeds.
