It must be autumn. After months of quick and light summer meals I feel the need for some good freezer back ups for warming dinners on work days.
So far I have cooked up a huge batch of chilli and a chicken curry. Its even better when there is a load of plot veg to use :D Both have homegrown onion, garlic and chilli peppers in them. The chilli has also got fresh anchocha, dried french beans and tomato sauce from the freezer. The curry has squash and greens in it :D :D :D

I was just thinking that it's stew time :D Must remember to soak the pulses tonight ::)

I'll swap you some lamb stew with all the works (pearl barley, winter veg, spuds, minty peas ) for some curry. :tongue2: I'm consider doing a batch of muffins tonight as I want to experiment with rhubarb and custard in them.

right with you there NS. have already done batches of curries (what a surprise), chillies, etc, and have already written "stewing meat" on this week's shopping list! tis definitely the turning of the seasons

Oh yes, the slow cooker has made a re-appearance in the kitchen :D

Meatballs for us tonight, with the last of the courgettes, hg onions, garlic and chilli, plus some sumac that I found in the back of the cupboard :lol:
Made enough for three meals, so two for the freezer there :D
Got beans drying everywhere at the moment ::)

Have just done a large pan of spicy roasted squash and tomato soup.

Already had a couple of stews. Got a beef goulash ( well, paprrikash, to be precise) planned for tomorrow or monday, depending how things pan out.

My slow cooker came out this morning. Just had beef stew. Only one small pack of beef but tons of veg from the plot and enough for lunch for the whole of the week.

tried my new dinky slow cooker a couple of weeks ago Mexican squash stew just enough for 2.

Tommorrow making batch of lentil soup for the week and slow cooker stew with big handful of lentils instead of bearl barley. Do love lentils :)

Not really cooking as such, but just peeled the shallot crop and they are all soaking in brine ready to make into pickles tomorrow.
The last of the beetroot crop from the raised beds at home is simmering away now, ready for making into pickled beetroot :)

Just done a big batch of leek and potato soup and a large batch of chilli.
Today is just grey and miserable. :(

It was fantastic, but today was definately a potter round the kitchen day, rather than potter round outside :) If it is damp tomorrow morning, I think a batch of soup will be on the way ;)

Well I shall be at Billingsgate tomorrow at 5am and the morning will be spent gutting fish. Not my favourite kitchen job. :(
But if it is chilly I think a bowl of mussel chowder will be the warming dish of the day.
