I've watched some YouTube vids on hydroponics where you have the fish as well.  That would really interesting to hear about when you have got it going.

Like everyone else I think the dome is very impressive :)

Hi All

Sorry for my absence over the winter. Life and the weather took it's toll and we didn't really go up to the allotment much as it was so muddy we were just doing damage by walking around. The dome stood up perfectly to all the winter storms. We are in a very exposed spot and several conventional greenhouses and polytunnels were completely destroyed

Things are moving on with the Geodesic Dome project and with the plot itself so I thought I would post a quick update.

The biggest job was digging a meter cube hole in the ground inside the dome to take the first of our 1000lt tanks. This is now done and the tank is in and full of water. We also levelled the the floor in the dome and then covered it in weed cloth. Eventually we will put down woodchips when we know where everything is going.

I have also started sorting out the perimeter fence as it was old chicken wire that was tangled with the grass and was impossible to strim up to and we don't use any weedkiller on our plots. I ripped up all the old fencing and replaced it with scaffold boards as a base and I am in the process of building a fence that mimics the bottom row of the geodesic dome. (I know, more blooming triangles ::))

A friend came over a couple of weeks ago and filmed the dome with his drone and I thought you might like to see the results.

He is going to come back a few times throughout the year to check on our progress and make additional films.

There is more information and pictures on our blog

Thanks Snoop

Yes I am pleased but there is so much work to do before it is productive which is the main reason for going to all this trouble.

I really want to get the aquaponics system up and running but I need to invest in a lot of equipment such as solar panels, battery, charge controller, pump etc.

I did build an experimental U Siphon over thee weekend which works really well. This will allow the grow beds to flood and drain.
