2ltrs lemonade bottles  with the cap just alllowing a drip then just turn it so it stops but not to far then lay it down at an angle  the  pressure outside will let it drip on . dont know how it werks but it does

The 99p shop has ceramic things with little hoses - 3 for 99p. Haven't tried them yet but might be OK for pots

i just used old hoe drilled small holes in it connected it up to a rain water tank,hay presto.

I've used lemonade bottles and plastic milk bottles in the past very successfully.  I've cut the bottom off and half-buried them in the soil - this allows the air pressure to push the water into the soil, aiding the suction generated by capillary action.  I've put a few holes in the cap with a Swiss Army knife corkscrew.  Works well.
