Barley wine...

Can anyone recommend a barley wine concentrate, to taste like Gold Label?

I'm going to have a spare container for a month, and think it's about time we went onto beer brewing for a short time, while we take stock...

You actually want to brew something that tastes like Gold Label?

Oh, I used to like Gold Label - a nip bottle back then, with half a pint of draft County Ale (Fremlins), and have never forgotten the gorgeousness of it all...

It was a special staple in the Ypres pub in Rye, and a recommended necessity!

My beer recipe, which is very basic and pretty well fine, depends very much on what malt I use of course. I've managed to get a barley wine 'taste' on some occasions, but that was years ago, and with new recipes around now, I hope I can find a malt which will do the trick!

I suppose half past six in the morning makes this an odd topic, but I prefer stronger ales because I just can't cope with big pints these days.

I like the way the Belgians do it, really strong beers but in smaller glasses, hence the requirement for something like Gold Label!
