so does Jimbo - he has figured out that it is the same as the pig arks .

Well yesterday I left the pop hole open but none went into roost - so I popped a few in. have now closed up all the other coops pop holes just to get them all to go in to lay today and hopefully this will have some effect. However broody Evie (Caralous silkie cross) is not amused but hopefully this will break her broodiness, she is walking around moaning and shouting her disapproval .
Studying the ark this morning Jim has said that it looks better and yes a second one will be better so got to start saving my pennies up and see how I get on with cleaning it out this weekend.

alan, just had a look at Greenfrog designs website (another recycled plastic coop manufacturer) and they fit auto pop holes to theirs as an extra  :)

as they had only been in it for a couple of days I decided to wait until this weekend, but my cleaning regime will be sweep out, wash down with vanodine v18 (as I have some in stock otherwise it would be just soapy water) and then dry, put fresh hemcore down and a sprinkling of Diatomous earth on top of the hemcore in the nest boxes.
Should I ever see any sign of redmite then it will be taken to our works and blasted with our industrial cleaner over a drain - or I may invest in a smaller power cleaner at home - the sort of thing that is used for cleaning decking and patios, however it would need doing well away from where the ark is sited as redmite can live on the ground and crawl back in.
We haven't seen any photos of your ducks etc yet, why not post a few pictures?

well really impressed with the ark and so are the chickens, so much so that they are all cramming in it which means I have got to order another one on Monday  :D
