Growing Aubergine 'Moneymaker' for the first time this year. Intend to grow them in large pots (30cm) in tall coldframe. Questions are: is this a big enough pot? Will a stout cane be enough support? Do I pinch out any side shoots? Any other info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have experience with aubergines but I grow sweet peppers (similar plant I believe) in tomato pots... I forgot how big those are now  :oops: I think they're at least 20cm diameter and about that sort of depth. I don't remember pinching out sideshoots on sweet pepper plants ever either.

That's interesting to read - I fancy having a go at growing aubergines next year and was planning on put those in pots too (I'm really not getting on with growbags!).  I'll have to jot this stuff down in my notebook for then!

Hi there - pots are big enough, stick will support and don't pinch anything out but you might want to reduce the fruits if it produces a lot on the plant - allthough I never have needed to.

Quite easy to grow but they do grow large.
