Title: Guinea Fowl
Post by: freefolk on March 20, 2019, 07:29
My neighbour has a guinea fowl, a few months old.  It wanders round the back and forages.  So far so good.  When I start planting my brassicas, corn etc etc, does anyone know if they are partial to young veg?  I am going to net stuff, but just thought I would ask.  Many thanks.

I've never had experience of guinea fowl Freefolk, but I would bet they do peck veg.  Pheasants do and they are similar forage feeders.

I would have said their diet was much the same as a pheasant but i found this on another forum ,

[Wild guineas eat mainly insects, and domestic guineas can consume large amounts of insects without affecting garden vegetables or flowers.]

Fingers crossed it is not a veggie gleanie ! :)
