How does your garden grow
« on: June 20, 2011, 13:45 »
Well, my silver bells and cockle shells are doing ok, but the trailing geraniums are still not in flower, the snails have eaten the leaves of the sunflowers,  the blue and white salvias are still the same size as when I planted them 4 weeks ago as are the tiny little mimulas.
I have just dug out a largish bed which where full of violas, and repanted it with all the bargain bedding trays left at the garden centre.   Oh and the nicotianas don't smell.
Apart from that the weeds are doing nicely now we have had some rain. :D :D :D Mrs Bouquet

As you are hinting this growing season has been rather challenging so far.First warm and very dry now its been cold and wet for longer then I care to remember. The only things that I can honestly say are doing well are my victoria plumbs which I've had to thin for the first time ever(normally a late frost does it for me).
As for the ornamentals the less said the better.

A bit slower than usual with the exception of the weeds.  We haven't had the same extremes of weather that you have had on the other side of the border though.  It's been pretty much cold, wet and windy since the snow melted with a few sunny days to stop us from wearying too much.
