Not only have they been putting themselves to bed the last few nights, after me putting them on the roost bar for the last 3, tonight they all flew up themselves. Bless.
Makes up for them making me chase them round the garden for 10 mins in my high heels this afternoon trying to get them back in the run. You've been framed would have paid a fortune. Thought I would let them free range whilst I popped home for 20 minutes, but they had other ideas,  told them if there was a naughty hen roost they would be on it.

Best to get them used to a small container of treats like mealworms which you can rattle and have them follow you like the pied piper.  Not as amusing though for your neighbours.

That's exactly what I said to my husband. I hadn't got any yet as they are only 6 weeks old today and I didn't want to feed them extras yet. Are the dried ones from the supermarket ok? I wouldn't have to hurry to use them up then

I use the dried ones but someone with more experience will have to advise you on chicks having mealworms.
