Bird Bath / Water Butt

Why don't designers of water butts make the lids concave so it can act as a bird bath?

A hole could be inserted about an inch up so the water would drain into the butt during heavy rain.

Good thought, but I suppose they make them convex in order to let the water run in through the holes round the rim.... ::)
