Identify a shrub
« on: May 01, 2011, 21:42 »
I am a volunteer gardener at a residential home.  My knowledge comes from the back of seed packets.  The residents, bless them, think I now everything.  I have been asked the name of a flowering shrub and  can't find the answer.  It has a white five petal flower, has a lovely smell and the leaves are palmate with five 'fingers' from 2" to 3" long.  I think it is evergreen.  A very similar one has white flowers with six petals???
I would appreciate any suggestions.

might be choysia...a little like orange blossom smell.  Sometimes called the mexican mock-orange, but rather different from philadelphus..
Try looking up on t'internet images.  Good luck!

I think from the picture in my RHS A-Z it could well be the Choisya 'Aztec Pearl' but not happy about the "pink-tinged white flower" bit.  Will check it again tomorrow.
Thank you all for your responses.
