I did a bit of weeding in the polytunnel first thing this morning and disturbed an ants nest in one bed.
I did have a problem a few weeks back with ants crawling all over my potted fig tree in there.  I got rid of those with a few blasts of water from the hosepipe.
Anyway, I wander off to do other jobs outside.  On my return I discover a huge swarm of flying ants all over the inside of the tunnel.
Will they disappear?  Or will I have to get rid of them myself?  If so, how?

Anxious that they don't remain given their ability to attract aphids.

They should disappear within a few days, if they are regular flying ants.

They also don't attract aphids - they appear when there are already aphids, I think.

So hopefully all will be well soon!

I've always discouraged ants in my protected growing. Ants will take advantage of a secure predator free location and set up aphid farms to feed their grubs. So yes Yorkie, ants will  bring aphids to a plant.
