Incubators.
« on: January 21, 2008, 14:20 »
My and dh have been thinking about hatching out a few eggs.
We think it would be a lovely thing for the children to experience.
(Actually, thinking of doing it over easter instead of getting them easter eggs :) )
I have had a look on ebay but need some advice on what I should be looking for. Any particular brands? Anything to avoid?
Chances are we will only use it once or twice before we put it back on ebay!
Thanks in advance.

I used an incubator last year which i bought on the internet.
I used a smart egg incubator was automatic so it turned the eggs. It was simple to use and costs around £110. That has a capacity of 24 hen eggs.
If i was going to use one again id only incubate large fowl eggs not all the other facny bantam breeds as they dont do very well at all in incubators.
You might think a 24 egg incubator is to big but you could buy one of them little ones that incubate 3 eggs for £50 you are more than likely to be dissapointed when only one hatches after 3 weeks of waiting. As an example if you had a 24 egg incubator its safe to say you will end up with a 50/50 hatch.
Im using a couple of silkies to hatch eggs this year as i belive its the best way
