I have early Calabrese in this year's brassica bed which will finish in the next month or so and some little winter cabbage and kale seedlings which will be ready to plant out about then.  I know I shouldn't put brassicas in the same bed 2 years in a row but does that mean 2 crops in a row in the same year?  Can they go in that space or do I need to find space for them somewhere else?

Not sure but they will be hungry crops so maybe a good layer of well rotted manure may help between the crops if it is ok to do. Some years i have done what shouldnt be done in the terms of crops but it was a case of having no other room or crops being early/late.

I am not perfect at crop rotation but i am trying a bit more each year.

I'd put them in the same bed - just try to avoid putting them in exactly the same place as the plants coming out.

Give them some chicken manure pellets or some FB&B.

I take the rotational thing to mean you can plant veggies from the same family in the same place during the same 12 months. After that you should plane them in a different place.

I put spring planted cabbage in (eaten during the summer) and follow them with the autumn winter ones which are eaten during the autumn  / winter / spring.
