Ducklings
« on: May 01, 2013, 09:57 »
I thought I would share a photo of some ducklings I've just hatched for my friend.

They hatched late Monday night and they are off to my friends today so the only chance for a photo.

They have just discovered the food and they move like greased lightning.

I dont really have room for ducks, but i cant believe how fast they can move considering they only started using their legs this morning. They spent the 1st 24 hours flaked out asleep  Much quicker than day old chicks.

They are going to a farm with a lake and an island in the middle of a lake with duck housing on the island and lots of acres to explore. Lucky them.

Of course now the incubator is empty, i can get on with some wyandotte bantams. This time they are for me though and not every body else. (Now watch them all turn out to be cockerels)

I hope you don't have the luck I have had with cockerels then.

What colour Wyandottes are you getting?

I'm going for Partridge Wyandottes.

I think their colourings / markings are lovely. Even hubby liked them.

I hatched some last year and were easier to sex early on so hopefully i wont have to keep the males long (I just want a couple of females, thats all, fingers crossed ........ if the powers that be are listening)  :nowink:
