Timon was attacked by 2 big dogs ( boxer and a big strong cross breed) it took 2 of us ladies at the refuge with brooms hitting the dogs and I managed to get Timon away. We actually broke the brooms hitting the dogs so hard, but they would not give up attacking. It was truly terrible.
Timon is a pint sized dog, I can´t say I really ´noticed´ him at the refugio, he was a ´in the background´ type of dog, kept himself to himself. Why the other dogs attacked we do not know, they just pounced and dragged him away.
He has come along really well. he is such a character, he is lovely, I so wish we could keep him, but we bought home a Labrador dog from the refugio the week before, so no way do we have room even for a pint sized dog. He is brilliant, house trained and quiet. I will be sad to have to take him back. He is back to the vet tomorrow, hopefully the wound on his leg can be stitched then, at the moment it is open wide (it was infected, it looks ok now)
You would think after being attacked he wouldbe scared of dogs, especially big dogs, but he isn´t , he tries to play with Charlie the Labrador, but Charlie is so big (and clumsy) he steps on Timon! I dread saying goodbye to him, I hope he can get a forever home soon!

You can see the gaping wound on his back leg, he had puncture wounds all round the back of his neck. He was so shaken after the attack, he was sick 4 times, I bought him straight home with us, he needed to looked after.

Awww what a sweet little dog!
I can't believe the people at the refugio would rather let this happen than have those other 2 dogs put down. They will never find homes for them when they do things like this!
-
Oh... poor little mite :(
You're doing a fabulous job for him !
-
You would think all he has been through he would be nervous, but he isn´t, he is just fabulous. Except, when he tries to scrounge food at tea time, he is a naughty boy then!!
Off to cream his wounds then off to bed. Don´t know why the vet said to put antibiotic cream on his wounds- I might as well cut out the middle man and just shove it down his throat, save him the bother licking it off straight away!! He can´t have a ´bucket´ on his head due to the wounds on his neck :(
Pamela
-
:( Sorry the little fella had to go through this. Bet he is glad to be in a loving home even for a short stay. Well done oliveview you are doing a great job. :D
-
Timon was a guard dog last night, he sleeps inside, the other dogs outside, he normally does not bark, but last night something got him going- he barked and barked, it wasn´t a ´speak to me´ type of bark, it was a ´I am a guard dog´ bark- well more a yap really
Pamela
-
A fine looking fellow and more than a little Terrier in there. I can understand why you would keep him if you possibly had space.
-
Timon is not a happy doggy, he has a bucket on his head :( he keeps licking the wound, as soon as I put the antibiotic cream on he licks it off. I tried dabbing tea tree cream around the area, he licked that off too  So we are back to the vet next week with him, how will we part with him in another week or more :(
The good news is the lady at the vet said to take some of the keyrings I am making there and they will put them on the counter to sell
Pamela
-
Timon is certainly a cute little fellow and like everyone else I hope someone worthy takes him home. And good news on those key rings.
-
He is a dear thing, Jim was in the bathroom and Timón sat and waited outside the door for Jim- Jim is his favourite here, he sits cuddled up to Jim on the sofa. It is going to be so hard to say goodbye to Timón :(
Pamela
-
He is a little darling. I'm a cat person really but if I fostered him I would be heartbroken to give him back. I do foster cats (usually feral kittens) and try not to keep them too long or I end up in tears when it's time for them to go. If you can get past that though it is very rewarding when they are found loving homes.
-
I think Timón has made himself at home here:

Pamela
-
Apart from the odd yelp from when Charlie catches Timóns leg when they play or he bundles past the dogs and catches the bad leg you would not know there was anything wrong with him the way he runs about.
Pamela
-
He looks to be healing really well. :D
-
Jim went into town and when he came back Timón sat on the sofa shaking with excitement waiting for her friend to come in the door :D Apart from the one bad wound all the others are scabbing over, he is looking so much better. I was looking at the facebook page about the refuge and it says Timón had been hit by a car and that was how he arrived at the refuge.
Pamela
-
He has been through the mill then. Hope he continues to improve and finds a nice loving forever home. ;)
-
It sounds like Timon will be more heart wrenched than Pamela when it's time to leave. He's finally found people to love and trust.
-
Timón has a cover on the sofa he can sleep on, I got up in the night and look where I found Timón sleeping-
(http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn135/spainpamela/Timn004.jpg)
Sleeping on top of the lid I put on the chair to keep him off. He spent all night there. C comfy sofa, a dog bed or a plastic lid to sleep on...... he chose the plastic lid
Pamela
-
Its MY chair. Lid or not, I'm sleeping on it. ::) ::) :D :D
-
looks like he has really made himself at home and I think both you and Jim will not want to send him back - especially Jim as Timon seems to have adopted him as his new best friend :).
-
Really cute pictures of a lovely dog - I can see him staying with you. ;)
-
Oh - go on - you know you want to keep him, especially as he is doing SOOO well! He's only small too, so won't take up that much room and .... where would Timon find another Jim????
-
Small dogs eat small amounts of food. ::)
-
He's loverly! It's easy to see how well you are looking after him and how happy he is. :D
-
(http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn135/spainpamela/MiliyTimn001.jpg)
Mili and Timón are friends, they were looking out the door for Jim.
Pamela
-
Adorable. Oh dear Pamela. You must be so tempted to keep him.
-
He's cute !
He's found his "forever home" ::)
-
Dear little chap ..... there's going to be heartbreak all round if he leaves you.
-
ooohhh, it breaks your heart. love your animals. and your temporary ones... er, :unsure:or maybe not temporary?? ::)
-
He cant stay.... he can´t stay- if I say it enough I will believe it!
Pamela
-
Then stop saying it. Timon is so adorable and you can never have enough friends.
-
You have given Timon a really good start for his new life. If he stays you may not be able to help other injured animals like him! Really hard decision but whatever you do it is a job well done. :D
-
Jim said this morning that it will be very hard on Timón if we send him back- so you never know, we might be a 4 dog family yet! We must have a screw loose somewhere!
Pamela
PS I got up for the loo at 5am this morning to find Timón watching tv- a lady playing the violin, or was it a cello? He must have stood on the remote and turned the tv on  He then decided to come into our bedroom and jump up onto the bed for a sleep- so he was sent out and the door firmly shut
-
He's definitely made himself very much at home
-
It says on the refuge facebook page that Timón has a new home........ where????????????????????
Pamela
-
Um, has Timon been busy on the web??
he does rather look at home!
-
perhaps they are assuming you will be his new owners - or like mobilekat has just said - Timon has let them know he likes living with you :D
-
I put a large plastic box that has my sewing stuff in on the chair last night- so Timón could not sit in the chaor, his cover was on the sofa- so instead he climbed up onto the chair and curled up on the cushion behind the box  Then knocked the box down as he got off
Pamela
-
You put the box on whose chair? :D ;)
-
I think we need to get things sorted out here Pamela ::)
This is now Timon's chair !! He has moved in, taken over, and after all, every chap needs his chair!
-
Ditto on that, Thrift. Can't figure what Pam was thinking by putting junk on HIS chair :D
-
:nowink: :nowink: no way to treat a resident ::)
-
Timón is a very naughty doggy- he jumped through a gap in the gate (where we put our hands to undo the bolt) so he came with us for breakfast at the bar with Juan! So now we have to put some wire across the gap.
It looks like Timón will be staying longer, they have the Parvovirus- is that the correct name? (they think) a pair of pups came in the other day, and one started to be ill and died overnight Saturday. It had been given medication. The pups were separate from the others thank goodness, but it could still spread between the other dogs.
We are at the vet tomorrow with Timón, his wound is looking so much better, I will ask the vet to give him his jabs, then it can be added to the bill and I can pay with the keyring money! I have 51€ so far, and more to come hopefully.
Pamela
-
It's conspiring against you, you know Timon will be getting his feet more under the table ,day by day.
-
The vet said the wound does not need stitching, it is gradually closing. He had a parvovirus jab- he needs to go back in 14-15 days, so he will be here another 2 weeks at least. We had a coffee and some toast after the vets, I stayed outside with Timón while Jim ordered, Timón got really upset waiting for Jim, he made a lot of noise
I have paid off another 30€ from the vets bill, hopefully the keyrings will pay it all and towards the vets bills at the other vets.
I won´t export them to the UK, I just posted off a light padded envelope, A4 size, well a little bigger, not much, it weighed nothing really and cost me 6.10€ for a few sheets of paper and 1 teddy keyring sized!
Robbery!!!
Pamela
-
Oh dear, Timon really seems to be Jim's dog now. :D
It's good that he is healing so well, must be a healthy little chap. The vets bills are an ongoing problem when you have a number of animals and it's great that you have time to make key rings for fundraising - well, I'm sure you don't really have time but manage anyway.
I think I saw your lovely key rings on another thread and my impression was that they were ridiculously cheap.
I was chatting, on f/b whilst playing scrabble, to a girl in Johannesburg who currently has 38 cats!! They all came from the shanty towns and are half feral but she is gradually taming and rehoming some of them. People do marvellous work all over the world. Brilliant!
-
They cost me about 20c to make, so not too much. My sister said I am selling them too cheap, but I would rather sell them and raise the money than have them hanging about.
I am going to make shopping bags next-I have bought some cheapish material- I hope to sell the bags for about 5€- they will get stitched when the weather cools as I sit outside on the patio to stitch.
Pamela
-
Timón is healing well, he is going to have to go back to the refuge though, as lovely as he is, 4 dogs is too much for our house. His bad wound is almost better, another week or two and he can go back. He is due to have a 2nd jab on 11th Spetember, so I guess it will be anytime after that.
Pamela
-
It's a shame you can't keep him but it means room for another foster dog when the next one comes along needing TLC. I understand how hard it is as I hand rear and foster/tame feral kittens and have been in tears when I return them. You really can't keep them all though. You should be proud of yourselves for what you have done for him though, he has done so well.
-
I think he knows his time might soon be up here, he is being so well behaved
Pamela
-
Timón gave a big yelp this morning, he was playing outside, his wound is looking a bit red and ´wet´ this morning, we think he got it yanked  I am sure it is so he can stay here longer
At the moment it is 60%-40% that he stays here! Although he got one of the keyrings I made out of the box this morning- luckily hubby found it before it got chewed, so anymore of that sort of behaviour he goes back
Pamela
-
I was back helping at the refuge this evening, another new dog, maybe two are there. The BIG problem is the bitches were kept apart from the dogs- except two if not three of the bitches are pregnant- some of the dogs were able to jump the gate
I think I will have to start fundraising for the dogs to be castrated, the bitches cost too much sadly!
One of the small dogs decided he was not going away for the night- in the end we had to chase him around the field, so I didn´t get home until 10pm! So a late tea tonight!
Pamela
-
Oh dear
Just think of the exercise chasing that final doggy though ;)
-
I was at the refuge last night, 2 dogs are pregnant!! They had kept the dogs apart, but a couple of dogs managed to jump the gate!!
Pamela
-
Oh No!! That's all you need. It's so difficult that funds don't stretch to speying the bitches. Lets hope they don't produce too many pups. :(
-
One of the dogs was pregnant when she arrived they think now, not one of our dogs! She is a darling of a dog, I will try to post a photo when I can get a nice one of her.
Pamela
-
How is the lovely Timon? Still with you?
-
I've been wondering about Timon too ........
-
He is still here- being ´fostered´ is the name of the game- but I think it will be forever- unless he eats any more of my sewing threads. Tonight he ate the dolls head of the rag doll I am making to raise funds for the refuge- I gave him a stern talking to, he then went indoors and stole a sewing thread (crochet cotton type) so he didn´t listen to me!

Timón and Lola
(http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn135/spainpamela/Timonandourdogs001.jpg)
He gives such ´old fashioned´ looks out of the side of his eyes, he likes to cuddle up when he sits right next to us- his wounds have all healed up now, just a small pink scar.
Pamela
-
 Sorry I shouldn't laugh but Timon is such sweety. He also sounds fairly young to keep stealing those things. Perhaps in time he'll get too lazy to bother.
-
They look like they're meant to be together.... ::)
-
Lola and Timón are so alike in looks, I have to look twice sometimes.
Timón means rudder in English- what a daft name
I never ever wanted 4 dogs....
Charlie- he is from the refuge too
(http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn135/spainpamela/insectanddogs003.jpg)
Jumbo- he was found with his Mum who was abandoned /lost and gave birth to 3 pups under the prickly pears
