Title: Highly recommended cordless hedge trimmer
Post by: Subversive_plot on May 01, 2022, 18:37
This is sort of a follow-up from a post last year about a blower/string trimmer combo.  https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=134853.0  (https://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=134853.0) Same manufacturer, EGO. The blower/trimmer continue to meet or exceed expectations.

We have an old Black & Decker corded electric hedge trimmer, it works, but is sort of a pain to use (notably, the cord vibrates loose after a minute of use, keep having to plug it back in again).  We wanted something that worked better, EGO has one that uses the same type of battery and charger as the blower/trimmer combo.  EGO is sold in the UK, at least that is my understanding.

Trimmer comes with a lithium ion battery and charger and a guard that covers the cutting bar. The cutting teeth on the bar have efficient wedge-shaped cutting surfaces (our old trimmer does not).

We have a lot of mature holly shrubs as foundation plantings, covering roughly 100 feet of house frontage. They were in serious need of a haircut. The new trimmer took care of all of that on a single  charge with power to spare.

The new one cost about £ 160, but seems efficient and well built.
