Title: Paraffin heater
Post by: riggers24 on March 22, 2017, 20:39
With the lovely seasonal weather we are currently enjoying, I'm thinking of a paraffin heater for the greenhouse but I'm unsure.
Can anyone recommend a good starter heater and what normal running time would I expect from the heater as I can't get to the allotment every night

Marc

'Tis a shame your so far away, I have a couple, you could take your pick.  Although well used, I've never used them.

Cheers Tony. :)

I was given a superwarm 4 which was pretty good. It lifted the temp 1-2 deg at night (sometimes more). I was lighting it in the evening and distinguishing in the morning though. I'd be worried about leaving it on 24/7, may get far too hot in the daytime!

.

I used two heaters for a number of years, the small local garage sold 20 lts of paraffin for £12, then it closed!

A local paint shop was the cheapest, 4 lts for £5.50 which was just about acceptable, then it closed!

The only place that then sold it was  Blooms GC, only £8.99 per 4 lts, so I stopped heating the greenhouse, after all it only a pleasant hobby!

Was in the GC over the bank holiday, the paraffin in now only £9.99 per 4 lts!
