Title: Help ! Duck with Lame Leg
Post by: Peteaggi on September 22, 2014, 09:43
Hi, Can anyone give me some advice please....?
Last Wednesday a Fox got into my garden i managed to chase it away but 1 of my ducks(Nelson) hurt her leg getting away from the fox. On thursday i took her to the Vets, She has not broken or dislocated her leg,the vet said it looked like nerve damage as nelson could not feel anything when pinched, The vet gave her some Anti inflammitories and sent us on our way, but before we left she said if she is not better in a week i should make "A Difficult decision" i have been nursing her in house and last night i let her our with here sisters, altho she pulls herself along she seems happy,  Does anyone know of anything i can do to aid her ...      ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

I presume the fox proofing have been upgraded. The fox will be back and Nelson is more vulnerable.
You will need to check the duck daily to make sure there are no injuries to the leg, also that she is keeping her weight up. Do you have a pond as that may cause problems for getting out.
