Visiting Allotments....
« on: February 19, 2007, 18:37 »
I have been in touch with a chap from our local allotments and I am going to see him and the allotments on Thursday afternoon. Apparently there are 5 empty plots (of various sizes / condition), so I hope to find one thats just right!

:D  Thanks again Mysteryjimbo for putting me in touch with him.

We need pictures!
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Off to see my possible first allotment tomorrow - getting quite excited    -

As a rule of thumb, how long do you think I will have to wait before I will be allowed to work on the plot (assuming I 'take it' tomorrow)

soon as you have signed on the dotted line and you have a key,

we went to see the lady at the village post office to enquire about an allotment, she took us straight up there, signed the agreement, and we were doing stuff the same day!

we met the parish clerk at the allotments, chose which one we wanted, signed, gave him £26, then he gave us the key, then left us to get on with it. Took about 10 minutes. We even had tools left for us by the previous owner in the hut on the plot.

It was all a bit daunting really, within 10 minutes we had aquired 250 sq yards that needed digging   !
