I read in a magazine this week to put a piece of copper around the pot of seedlings to stop the slugs getting to them.

But it didn't explain why this work? how? has anyone tried it?

Apparantly it gives them a small electric shock. Igot some copper last year to try it, but never got round to it. Will try to give it a go this year though.

Can get a bit expensive to say the least with copper being sky high. I'd just use a few safe slug pellets. Organically approved as well.

I remember watching Alan Titchmarsh or somebody on a TV programme testing those, among other "useful" remedies, and found wanting.

Probably just as useful as a copper bracelet around the wrist against rheumatism.
Stops the evil eye though!  LOL.  :

If it was any good I would imagine that someone would have developed it already built into pots by now and would be charging throught the roof for it.

You can buy tape to stick round pots - it just seems an expensive route and ecologically I would argue using ferrous based slug pellets is more sound.
