Jasmine
« on: May 20, 2014, 05:17 »
I have a Jasmine plant that I have growing up the side of my garage, supported by trellis.
it is doing really well, and giving me a colourful display,of small pink flowers.
It has now reached the garage guttering.

Question.
Should I nip the top off??
Or just leave it??
If I nip off the top, will it bush out more.

Advice please.

it's best to prune after the early flowering. If you just cut it along the guttering it will just become bushy at that level, and mostly flower at that level.

I suggest you cut some of the shoots lower down, as well. Then maybe next year some of the ones that you left longer this year can be pruned shorter as well.

Doing some pruning every year will keep it flowering, at all levels, and under control.
