a good week!
« on: September 09, 2010, 12:38 »
Just a quickie to share some good news! After an appalling fortnight that saw us lose two of our cats we at least have hope in our chicken world :)  We rescued six ex-barn chickens and have had them quarantined for two weeks.  All was well so we introduced them to our existing five ladies two days ago and it went so smoothly I am stunned.  A few flapping face offs and a bit of running and chasing and that's it.  Only hitch is that so far they don't know their way to bed yet but they will get the hang of that in the end.  All harmony and we feel so lucky.  Plus our broody, Lacey, has successfully hatched at least three chicks today - trying to leave her alone but soooo excited  :D I'm just sitting in the garden staring at the coop and listening to her lovely gentle rosey...... thankfully the sun is shining so I'm not getting soggy  ::)
