What breed ?

Has anyone got any idea what breed of chicken this is ?

I have two of them, they have now got really big (bigger than my cockerel)

They dont seem to have any fear of anything, but are really friendly and like to be petted

They do face up to the cockerel (and its him who backs down)

Are these a meat bird, do they ever lay eggs ?

I have never seen birds like this and not this size

Has anyone got any of them ?

Did theirs get as big ?

Looks like a splash Brahma.  Does she have a single comb (looks like a normal comb) or a pea comb (looks like little bobbles)?

The over all stance is a little tall and upright to be a cochin.

Brahmas are lovely, friendly birds.  They are my favourite.

Yes they lay, however being a heavy breed, they normally don't lay until 30-40 weeks of age - so almost twice that of a commercial hybrid.  Also the eggs are normally quite small, about 45-50g.

You do occasionaly get a single comb in brahmas - a throwback from cross breeding to introduce new colours.
