wilting geranium
« on: May 04, 2011, 09:11 »
Hi! We have several outdoor geraniums in our garden, they grow in a dome shape and produce lots of small pink flowers in summer, great ground cover and very pretty when in bloom, we moved one recently, and although it was only out of the ground for a few minutes and planted in a similar spot it has wilted badly. Do you think I should cut it back and hope for it to return next year, give it more time to recover or have I killed it. Thanks in advance for any help

they need a lot of watering, to make up for the broken roots, after transplanting.
No need to cut back IMO as it will recover, but give it a really good deep watering rather than a sprinkle now and then :)

If it's anything like mine it will have been growing like the clappers when you moved it so will probably be thinking "What did I do to deserve this?!"

Tough plants though, I'm sure if you do what Mum says it will be fine!  :)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I have found the same and yes - they do recover though you may need to water often until they get settled. They are quite forgiving plants really.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
