Ikea 'DIY' sections - great for bargains!
« on: February 20, 2009, 21:27 »
Went to Ikea the other night to buy drawers as OH was tarting up eldests bedroom whilst she was away and I looked in on the 'DIY' section where they sell off the seconds really cheap.

I bought 2 heavy duty drawers only from a fitted unit to use as nest boxes and they only cost £1.50 each!!  bargain!

How big are your drawers? I guess they are for chickens not tits and the like?

LOL!  They are normal dressing table sized drawers;  about 18" square and nice and deep (about 8" I'd say)

Am going to give the big house a thorough spring clean on Thursday and install them then  :)

Very useful things, drawers! When my mum was born in the 1920s she was so small that she was placed in a drawer (kept open) with a warm hot-water bottle in the bottom to help keep her warm.

She has had the nick name "tiny" most of her life. :)

I use an old drawer to hold my seed packets... easy to organise and move around.... all sorted alphabetically.... Sad, eh? :nowink:

Very hard to remember if you put the Maris Pipers under M or S for Spuds or P for Potatoes.

No problem..... My drawer organisation is matched by a word doc that lists the seeds by the same initial letter as appears on the packet - in the columns that follow this I keep a record of date sown / germinated / potted on and then out.  :D

It's sad what some people will do to avoid working all evening in front of a computer! :(  And to think the things were supposed to reduce "paper-work"!!
