We have lost several of our Box plants this winter and want to replace them.Anyone give  us advice on the best sort to buy and where to get them from.Is it worth spending money on larger plants ? To fill in our gaps.

You could try Myrtle as they are very easy to take cuttings and grow quicker so will fill the gaps quicker.    Just a thought.       Cheers,     Tony.
I may be growing OLD, but I refuse to grow UP !

Box is easy to propagate from cutting's, but is a very slow grower. Bigger plant's will not usually establish as quick as smaller one's. Try Buckingham nurseries online. They are very reasonable and do mail order.

Years ago, I got lots of the dwarf suffruticosa box plants for a small edging hedge but they didn't do too well in our coastal area, despite being reasonably sheltered. The leaves went rather yellow with red spots and I had lots of die-back. I bought a few more locally but they were a different variety with more pointed, dark greyish-green leaves with a light-coloured young growth. These have been very successful and I propagated lots more to replace the others. I did get another variety from B&Q which were a more mid-green and the leaves were more shiny; they were ok, but prefer the dark green ones. These have grown into a nice hedge which I trim twice a year, so the growth rate isn't too fast.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.
