Title: building a shed

Well today ive started on the making of my new shed at home, It's going to be 10 foot by 6 foot and made out of recycled pallets every bit of wood you see is of the pallets i get of my oh father! I won't be rushing the job as its getting done in my time off from work. Today Iv'e concreted the posts in and started on the bottom which is the struts for the floor.

Any advice/tips will be gratefully received as this is far from my normal job being a carpet fitter thank you

It looks good to me and much straighter than most of the ones on our site! It might be worth incorporating some security measures for your tools - a ground anchor to lock them to or a false back wall with the tools hung up behind maybe.

Good luck with this project.  My OH built most of our chicken sheds from pallet wood, and you may find this old post interesting.

I just finished mine, all the panels are done and the door, i have just to make a floor, and then put it together

I've seen that mans shed build before I won't be using angle iron it'll all just be good old timber and wood deck screws! Security isn't a massive issue as I live in a quite area but I will be having a lock and what have you! I'm not doing anything today as  I'm a bit tired but tomorrow I'll start making the frame that I will attach to the posts got a little helper tomorrow to so any heavy work will be done then! Can you post a picture of your shed Dopey113 will be interesting to see some one else's idea thank you. I'll keep you all updated with pictures on the progress I make.

To make the frames, I've used nuts and bolts, when i go on the allotment tomorrow i will take a few picks for you, but I'm going to screw it together though, so if I ever leave the allotment i can take it bits and put it in my garden

Really happy with the way it looks got a big window there in front for when i sit there having a cuppa!

Tomorrow i will hopefully get the other two side frames done and then the floor and eventually all the slats that is going to take some time! I'm going to make some double doors using planks but get some pva and some sawdust to put into the gaps to make it look like its only two pieces

looks good. 

Make your roof overhang on the low side larger - then place your water butts under there.  They have to sit somewhere and may as well enlarge your collection area, especially with the water issue we're facing

So... this nice framing made of JUNK??? Well done! Just don't forget to add couple angled braces(from one corner to another, where is possible).

Hello, I haven't updated for a while been busy taking all sorts of pallets apart and yes the roof is going to overhang the sides all over but I've got some drain pipe here to put up to collect all the water, I'll put some pictures up when I get to the computer but it's come on a long way since the last pictures and it is made out of all junk wood which is good for my wallet and good for the environment!

Well i've finally finished the shed, all ive got left to di is put a little fence around it with some slabs and decoration stones so this is how it looks!

And finally the front which i must say i think it looks really good. Tomorrow ill just finish my fence, ive also built a potting bench in the shed too i'll get a picture of it tomorrow!
