It's a long shot, but I wonder if anyone can help.

I've just been given an old Mantis Tiller. One of the 2 stroke jobbies. Obviously, people don't just give away perfectly working examples and this case is no different. I was told, you can have it if you can fix it. Ah, that old chestnut!

So it's been sat in a shed for seven years and the owner can't remember what was wrong with it when it was mothballed. Upon quick inspection the ignition coil is missing. There's a fairly easy one to diagnose!

I've rang Mantis and they've said it will cost about £65 for the parts, but they've suggested (and I agree) that it's a bit risky on such an old model.

I wonder if anyone has any experience of these machines and could tell me of any other machines that carry the same coil? That way I may be able to find a broken example somewhere cheaply. Or does anyone have a broken old Mantis with a coil?

It seems a shame to bin something for the sake of such a small part and I'd love to get it up and running again. However, it doesn't make sense to pay out for brand new expensive bits as it may not be the only thing wrong with it!

Can anyone help?

Keep an eye out on ebay sometimes you get people breaking the engine for parts

I believe some of the 2T Mantis engines were made made by Echo.
