Light Sussex v. Buff Orpington
« on: July 16, 2010, 00:45 »
 :)Hello

Just wondered if anyone out there had a preference for the light sussex or buff orpington.

What I am looking for is a hen that lays well and is friendly as well......???

Any replies will be most appreciated.  ???
regards Patricia

My limited experience tells me that they are both friendly chooks (I have Light Sussex). It depends what you want them for - the sussex are usually much better layers. :)
Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted!!

My Light Sussex lays good eggs regularly ,is tame ( if you have food  :) ) and apart from having  a wing clipped when she decides to patrol the top of the 5ft hedges has been problem free. :)

My light sussex is just coming up to one year old and she hasn't laid one egg yet :(  I live in hope that one day she will surprise me.

My three orpingtons (1 gold laced, 1 white and 1 lavender) lay very good sized eggs every day. They're also really pretty, friendly girls. I'm really pleased we got them  :).

Both are good breeds, we have 3 white Sussex and they are very friendly I have heard a lot of people say orpies are very soft and make great pet birds but don't have any myself.

Why not 1 of each?
