Jam Jars

A glut of Blackberries looks likely , so plenty of jam on the horizon , however have now run short of jars. Any suggestions on sourcing cheap , but good jars.

Or you could ask on freecycle for used jars

Freecycle will result in a glut of jars. I think jam jar collecting must be a national sport. It is just us Brits?  :D
I am a bit snobby about jars and hai prefer the Bon Maman ones because of the jaunty checked lids

Cheapest I can find are at Patteson's glass.

However if you were to put up a poster by your front gate and leave a plastic box there people may leave you their old jam jars.

I do this and I use them for my test runs of jams and chutneys before I decide whether they are good enough to sell. I never use recycled for the stuff I sell.

and I always use new lids which can also be bought separetly from the supplier above.

Yes, but you're selling your preserves. For most of us it's not that critical. I've given and received some jolly good jars on Freecycle.

I collected loads for the scouts who then decided they'd got enough cash to get to the Czech Republic without having fund-raising sales so I ended up with the darned lot  :nowink:  Thank goodness for Freecycle methinks:)

I use c.wynne very good servie although watch the VAT as it can sometimes be wrong. They are awesome packers, i recently tried wares of knutsford but the bit that drove me potty was every jar came individually wrapped in tissue, took forever to unwrap and flatten and fold, however it did go fast once it hit freecycle.
