2-stroke strimmer only works with the choke open (JCB LT26)

I've had no problem with this strimmer just recently. I wonder if I have possibly mixed some fuel with slightly too much oil to the mix and gummed things up or carburettor needs cleaning or replacing.

There is only one adjustment screw. The problem with this is I can turn it so the strimmer will work with the choke in, but when the machine is idling, the strimmer head is still spinning quite fast. If I turn the screw so the strim head stops when I let go of the trigger, the strimmer stalls when I pull the working trigger.

I can't see any other adjustment screw.

Any ideas? Is it a job for the garden shop or can I possibly DIY?

empty the fuel out . and try with straight petrol but only for a few seconds ! that should clear any dodo out . Worked for me on a big chainsaw where I had overmixed  :)

Thanks - I tried that and it has improved a bit but the problem I have now is the strimmer head carries on spinning when idling and if I turn the idling screw so the strimmer head stops when I let go of the throttle the strimmer labours and cuts out when I try to strim.

I found the manual on-line and the one screw I have is the idling adjuster. There isn't a screw to adjust fuel flow.

if there is a fuel filter it may need cleaning, likewise the air filter .

It could be worth cleaning and adjusting, or replacing the spark plug as well.

hi you are lucky to have one adjusting screw most chinese made strimmers dont have any you fell into the well known name club Just because its a British company name doesnt mean its a British made product  its made in china with no spares back up best place  for it is the scrap yard and pay a bit more for quality  Its not worh doing up you probably cant get to the motoring/metering diaphragms as carburettor could be asealed unit  jezza
