no show sunflowers

Sowed sunflower seeds direct in ground and nothing. Mice or slugs got blame.Started more in paper pots one tiny shoot showed in one pot and vanished, nothing in any others. Get better results from seeds for the birds. Could it be weather or dud seeds.

having done it two different ways, I would suspect dud seeds.  Mrs Bouquet
